Tempayang (Malva Nut)
Malva nuts are seeds obtained from the Sterculia lychnophora tree, known for their ability to swell significantly when immersed in air, producing a jelly-like texture. In Indonesia, malva nuts are usually harvested from wild or cultivated trees and are used in traditional desserts and drinks, primarily for their cooling properties. Although not a major cultivated crop in Indonesia, malva nuts are also found and used in other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, particularly in traditional medicine and cuisine.
